Legal English

The International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) is a high-level language qualification for all lawyers and jurists working in an international environment. This can also be supplied as a ‘blended learning’ course.

Why the ILEC?
English is the common language of the legal profession, of business and of international affairs. ILEC gives employers the guarantee that the legal staff they appoint have an appropriate level of English to be able to communicate with clients and professionals in other countries, and to be able to deal effectively with material written in English.

For whom?
ILEC is a must for lawyers and jurists with international matters. It is also suitable for law students intending to follow courses which include a significant English language content — either in their own country or abroad. The International Legal English Certificate (Cambridge ILEC) assesses English language ability at Levels B2 and C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (the internationally recognised benchmark of language ability). This corresponds to an upper-intermediate to advance level of English. You will sit the Cambridge exams through the British Council, the official representative of the University of Cambridge ESOL exams in Holland.
